Home to the creators, who happened to be high school students at the time, of the comic book hero "Superman", Cleveland definitely made its mark on the world. Where the music scene is concerned, it was a Cleveland DJ that first uttered the phrase "rock and roll" on a radio station in the 1950's. In 1952 Cleveland held the very first rock and roll concert. From rock and roll to the world's biggest rubber stamp sitting in Willard Park that was created for the Standard Oil Company, even a ghost-haunted Merry-Go-Round Museum, Cleveland is one fascinating city.
With places such as the Garfield monument at the Lakeview Cemetery in honor of America's 20th President and the graves of other prominent figures such as John D Rockefeller and members of President Lincoln's cabinet, this is a treat for those that are into graveyards. You will find stunning gardens to be explored with butterflies galore at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, or grab a bike and go for an extra long ride along the "Towpath". If you are feeling adventurous take a kayak out on Lake Erie or visit Edgewater Park for a lazy afternoon, if falling out of a kayak does not appeal. Remember the movie "A Christmas Story"? Pay a paltry sum and you can experience the house as it was in the movie.
