About Arlington
Think downtown Washington where in 1976 the first gooey but oh so delectable "ballpark nachos" were served at Arlington Stadium. It is home to the brainy nerds of the world known as Mensa - the oldest high IQ society in the world - as they have their headquarters in Arlington. So from big brains to brain freeze, Arlington has ties to the wonderful creation of the first frozen margarita machine courtesy of Mariano's owner, Mariano Martinez, who invented it after seeing a "slurpee" machine.
Arlington sits on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington DC. Because of this location, it is where many government departments and agencies have their headquarters such as the Department of Defense, the Federal Government of the United States and the Pentagon, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. So I guess you can visualize a lot of suits, dark sunglasses and spooks wandering around the streets. There are plenty of national museums and memorials to gawk at even the Arlington National Cemetery if that is what interests you. You should take in the Planetarium with an 18 m diameter dome at the University of Texas, listen to a symphony at the Arlington Museum of Art or take a tour of the AT&T Stadium. Grab some treats and have a picnic in the River Legacy Park, an urban oasis of lush greenery with over 16 km of trails to bike, hike or leisurely take a stroll. You should find the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts as on an annual basis it produces about 50 free music events from jazz to international on the Founders Plaza lawn. If you like to play the odds, go to the Top O'Hill Casino or for a mouthwatering gourmet burger, head to the Twisted Root Burger Co.
