About San Juan

A first-class highly urbanized city located in the Metro area of Manila, San Juan is the smallest city in the Philippines in terms of area with a population of around the 122,180 people meandering its streets. Its history goes back to pre-Hispanic times when it was a part of the Kingdom of Namayan. San Juan was the site of the first battle of the Katipunan known as the organization that led the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire. By the 16th Century it had become a part of the Spanish Crown. Quezon City, Mandaluyong and the City of Manila bound the city. It's affectionately referred to as the "Town of Philippine Presidents", as 4 presidents were citizens of San Juan when they took office. Today it's a bustling hub overflowing with boutique and bargain shopping outlets plus a few landmarks to gawk at and coworking venues to keep the innovative locals happy.

The Philippines has seen an unprecedented rise in the number of new and innovative businesses led by ambitious young entrepreneurs. The private sector is supporting startups with investment, creating incubation programs and providing mentorship. The government has launched numerous initiatives and is laying out plans to foster its startup community. Now that the Philippines has a more stable socio-political system, more businesses have been attracted to its shores. With high mobile usage rates and a large English-speaking population, the Philippines startup scene may be young, but it is thriving.

With the opening of coworking venues it is believed that it will help to create a culture of collaboration and support amongst its innovative souls.
