About Raj Gunda
Sitting on the border of the Kangra and Mandi Districts, Raj Gunda is a tiny village about 136km from the state capital of Shimla. You will have to brush up on your Hindi if you wish to be understood without the use of hand language so that you can chat to its 63 residents when you take time out to have a coffee in a cafe or if you get busy in a coworking venue.
Local IT gurus are expounding that it's a good time to be an entrepreneur in India, as the market has matured from being just a bubble. Startups are hitting new highs and global investors are putting funds into the sector, whilst innovative Indians are attempting to create the next billion-dollar company. The IT sector ranges from e-commerce to fitness and art, as it's being driven by India's expanding economy, rising disposable income and the tech boom.
Raj Gunda may be small but as with the rest of India it has its quota of new entrepreneurs giving up their day jobs to jump on the startup bandwagon, especially as many education institutions are located within easy reach of the village.
Coworking venues are supporting these intrepid souls whether they are students or seasoned professionals by giving them the space to mingle, collaborate and the space to get their stuff done before they rush home to gorge on some kofta curry and rice.
