About Sabadell

The city that pioneered the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia with its textile mills, Sabadell became the most important wool city in the whole of Spain during the mid-19th Century. It was nicknamed at this time the "Catalan Manchester" and even today many of the mills from this period can still been seen. Some have even been totally revamped into funky residential buildings. Basically a commercial and industrial city, it is an important communications hub as 2 motorways run beside the city, the C-58 from Barcelona to Manresa and the AP-7 from France and Girona to Tarragona, Valencia and Andalusia. Sitting on the River Ripoll about 20km north of Barcelona, coworking venues have sprung up for the innovative tech savvy locals who don't wish to have their own offices but who need the space to get their stuff done.

As with other bustling towns and cities throughout Spain, Sabadell has seen a rise in the local tech scene due to the fact that its youth are no longer chasing their dreams overseas, preferring to hang around in their own stomping ground. The startup ecosystem has happened and many creative minds are getting innovative in their own neighborhoods. Today it is quite acceptable from a cultural point of view to say that you are an entrepreneur and not a civil servant. Spanish entrepreneurs have a competitive advantage of being able to grab skilled developers and engineers at a fraction of the Silicon Valley cost, which is why many startups are chasing their dreams in the land of wine and Jamon Iberico (Iberian ham).

Coworking spaces have become the hub for creatives to hang out connecting with other likeminded souls.
