About Kolin

A town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, Kolin sits on the Elbe River about 55km from Prague. Its history goes back to the 2nd Century, so you do have a glorious historical heart awash in gothic and baroque buildings to meander around. The main market square "Karis" is where you can hang out sipping espresso and watching the passing parade before getting serious in your coworking venue, whilst a few other notable places to take a peek at such as the Jewish ghetto and synagogue will always be there for when you have the spare time. There is a large old Jewish cemetery to piously walk around and the 13th century St Bartholomeus Church is where you can say a little prayer.

Kolin has been home to numerous famous people such as Josef Sudek (photographer known for his haunting landscapes of Prague) and Jan Novak (Czech-American novelist and playwright) to name a few, so there may just be creative juices flowing through the town's water.

The city of Kolin is not a tech hub per se, but it's a part of the Czech startup scene that is on the rise with companies such as Avast and AVG with roots in the Czech Republic. It seems that every day there are new startups emerging with plenty of job vacancies for skilled IT workers. With a population of around the 11-million mark plus a new hip name "Czechia", the country is seeing startups patenting their know-how and registering brands bringing their ideas into the realms of reality. Coworking spaces are packed with good vibes where plenty of knowledge sharing happens amongst its creatives.
