A small town of approximately 4,000 residents, Felton sits in the Santa Cruz County that is easily accessible from Highway 17. It is the perfect town for getting around by your trusty walking shoes or pedal power and for the lazy ones, a motorbike. Historically a logging town, it was established as a community in 1927. Felton is where you will find an 80-foot long covered bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the "Felton Covered Bridge" spanning the San Lorenzo River.
You won't get lost in this tiny town and it is very much for an outdoor enthusiast to explore. There is the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park overflowing with long scenic trails to hike under the canopy of old redwoods. You can set up camp in the wilderness at the Big Basin Redwoods State Park with long trails that lead to the beach and amazing scenery along the way. If you want more than beautiful views, there are some mines and frontier style shelters in the Fall Creek State Park to keep you happy. One of the major activities is mountain biking, so hire a bike and set off into the sunset. If you feel inclined to jump a train, you can go via steam train into the Henry Cowell redwood forest or head to the beach for a leisurely swim.
There are not many dining options apart from your camp fire grill, but there is a pizza place and a couple of Chinese restaurants to fill your stomach at.
