Part of Silicon Valley, Los Gatos that means "the cats" in Spanish, sits in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains.  It is where the television buffs will be enthralled to learn that Netflix was founded here. A somewhat stifling hot city in the summer that the locals have become accustomed to, it is wise to pick a cool time of the year or overcast days to go exploring here.

Sunday mornings appear to be the locals favorite time as the Town Plaza is packed with wall to wall bodies walking their dogs, sipping coffee and gossiping, or shopping at the vibrant local Farmers Market.  If you are in the know you will head to Los Gatos Cafe where you can gorge yourself silly on their Crab Cakes Benedict dish to start your day.  A tad of shopping can be done in the Old Town Shopping Center where you can find anything and everything you could desire. You should head into Los Gatos Luxury Cars if you have a Rolls Royce, a Lotus or a Lamborghini on your shopping list.  There are plenty of thrift stores for those that travel lightly relying on disposable clothing as their wardrobe of choice.

Los Gatos does have one major redeeming feature and that is the Testarossa Winery, which is within walking distance of the town.  It's quaint, old and not crowded with the perfect outside patio for whiling away a few hours in blissful peace sipping an amazing drop of wine.
