This is a "self-declared" town; obviously there are plenty of headstrong people amongst the locals here. Predominantly a bedroom town (aka commuter) of the Denver Metropolitan area, it is in the Douglas County of Colorado.
Sitting between Colorado's two largest cities, Colorado Springs and Denver, it is a suburban development replacing its historical ranching roots. It is predominantly where mums, dads and kids with lunch boxes rule and life goes on in an average fashion.
The saving grace for the area is that Douglas County has 3 state parks within its boundaries: Castlewood Canyon State Park, Chatfield State Park and Roxborough State Park with a portion of the Pike National Forest crossing the historic South Platte Trail.
If you find yourself sitting in this area, then pack the tent; grab the hiking boots and head to one of the national parks to get a thrill.
