About Tel Aviv
Super gay friendly, overflowing with juice stalls, chic outdoor cafes, designer boutiques and art galleries, Tel Aviv is young, modern and has an eclectic nightlife that just keeps on going. A Mediterranean city where the weather is great all year round, it is known as "the white city" due to the concentration of Bauhaus buildings, in fact over 4,000 that are UNESCO listed. Awash in gorgeous beaches, the waterfront promenade "Tel Aviv-Jaffa" is a never-ending parade of buskers, ice cream shops, trendy boutiques and restaurants.
This is the town where artists and musicians hang out, or young professionals with a newly acquired bank account like to lounge. There is more than 40 km of bicycle paths to get around on so that you don't get bogged down in the traffic chaos. It's where the "rollers" come out in force on a Tuesday night with their skates, gliding over many of the town's prime attractions.
Israel's second largest city has the famous Gordon Beach, where you can learn how to folk dance if so inclined when lazing in the sun gets too boring with all the action going on around you. The bohemian crowd head to Banana Beach for a bit of drumming and singing, Hilton Beach is for the gay circle and Metzizim Beach's sandy shores draw anyone to its Mediterranean clear blue water. When you want to get out of the scorching sun head to Hayarkon Park, or visit "Old Jaffa" that is the oldest seaport in the world. Be adventurous and try out some street food, meander around the Carmel market treasure hunting, or the Levinsky Market where you will get hit in the nose with the pungent aroma of spices.
With theaters galore and fabulous architecture, from the culture fan to the sun worshipper, you won't be bored.
