Sitting in the region of Hovedstaden, Ballerup is a music educational hub with about 25 schools in its region specializing in the study, training and research of music. It's located 15km from central Copenhagen, so you can have a taste of the big smoke whenever the whim takes you. Ballerup comprises a number of small villages plus the small towns of Måløv and Skovlunde. A modern town with a lively cultural scene and a thriving business center, Ballerup offers ecological farms, loads of music venues to keep your ears happy, lush parks, a golf course and a museum for the curious to poke around. There is also an old church smothered in 12th and 13th century frescoes for when you want to say a prayer for some heavenly intervention for the success of your startup on the way to your coworking venue.
Not exactly a tech hub per se, Ballerup is a part of Denmark's startup scene that is flourishing. A recent gathering at a TechBBQ saw 150 startups, 6000 delegates, a number of international businesses such as Siemens, Google and Microsoft plus heavyweight business angels such as David Helgason get together in collaborative mode. The Danish startup scene offers an interconnected and friendly startup community and capital is reasonably available for fledgling startups with big dreams. The Danish Growth Fund is dishing out government funds as loans and helping new tech companies launch on the Danish stock exchange in an attempt to put them on the global market, but also to keep them based at home.
Coworking venues are offering Ballerup's locals dynamic spaces where they can mingle with likeminded souls.
