About Toulon
Maybe not the bustling city of startups and entrepreneurs as some others in France, Toulon nevertheless is gaining momentum in the coworking scene. A port city sitting on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France, you will still find some of its former charm despite being severely damaged during the Second World War. There are plenty of characteristic cobblestoned alleys, outdoor cafes for sipping espresso and people watching, rustic squares with gushing fountains and an old town to meander, that are oh so French and c'est la vie.
A port city built on a sheltered bay; it is home to France's second-largest naval fleet. Maybe a tad rough around the edges, Toulon is not a city that tourists have on their must-see lists. The locals are friendly and the cost of living is affordable so if you want to set yourself up for awhile in a French city, Toulon does have quaint fishermen's houses to gawk at, boutiques to trash your credit cards and a number of brilliant restaurants. In the harbor you will find ferries and fishing boats, whilst at the Mourillon quarter there are plenty of sandy beaches to do some sun worshipping or water splashing.
To keep your daily living costs down, you can shop at the traditional Provençal markets with the most amazing one held on the Cours Lafayette every morning from 7.30am. It's here that you can grab your fresh fruit and vegies, fish still jumping and local cheeses to go with that warm baguette.
