About Kampala

Uganda's national and commercial capital bordering Lake Victoria, Kampala's hills are awash in red-tile villas surrounding an urban heart of contemporary skyscrapers. The city is divided into 5 boroughs with a population of over 2 million. Kampala has been ranked as the best city to live in East Africa, more so than Nairobi and Kigali.

The number of coworking and tech hubs in Kampala has been growing since Hive Colab first opened its doors about 7 years ago. You now have a big choice of where you go to get your stuff done, without having to resort to a cafe for your dose of camaraderie and sense of community. Some have opened and closed during the last few years, but many have flourished and found their niche clients.

Kampala is a bustling and dynamic city and sits in the heart of the Buganda Kingdom with a rich and colourful history. You may have to contend with power or Wi-Fi interruptions, but when this happens it is the perfect excuse to catch a "boda boda" and check out some of the fascinating historical landmarks dotted around. Cash is king at the local restaurants and bars that dish up any international cuisine that you can think of.

A city to fall in love with for its chaotic air of streets choked with shoppers, hawkers and overloaded buses, Kampala becomes a stunning garden city as you climb Nakasero Hill, where you can indulge in amazing coffee.
