About Noida
A planned city in India, Noida is probably home to the Indian voice talking to you when you ring up your bank. A hot spot for Business Process Outsourcing, IT and IT services with numerous businesses setting up their bases here, the city came into being in 1976 as part of an urbanization scheme during the years 1975-1977. It has the highest per capita income in India. It is a male dominated domain and has many universities to educate them - Galgotia’s College of Engineering and Technology, Amity University, Jaipura Institute of Management, JSS Academy of Technical Education and the Asian Academy of Film of Television. Dressed in tree-lined roads, Noida has the highest green cover of any Indian city and is considered to be the best place to live in India. Sitting on the Yamuna River across from Delhi, it is awash with rickshaws and buses so beware when crossing the road. By normal Indian standards however, Noida is a slow relief from other Indian cities with a low level of pollution.
The city is dressed to shine in all its green glory with numerous parks often sporting statues, that really are not particularly noteworthy, but more for appearances sake. The Noida Film City (think Bollywood) is an option to walk through when you have stopped by the Stupa 18 Gallery (think local art) with interesting exhibitions. You can make a point of visiting the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to get up close and personal to one of the many bird species found in India, or just chat to the birds when you walk around the parks such as the Botanical Garden. Apparently the city is over run with flocks of flying feathered creatures from mynahs, cormorants to kingfishers. Considered to be somewhat of a shopping hub there is the Mall of India, Sab Mall, Spiceworld Mall and the Great India Place, to thrash your credit card. The rev heads can get their jollies at the Buddha International Circuit and the golfer can chase white balls at the city's golf course. There are quite a few dynamic nightclubs for those into some revelry and the child in you can be let loose at the Worlds of Wonder Water Park.
