About Karvina
Sitting on the Olza River in the district of the same name, Karvina is in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. One of the most important coal mining centers in the Czech Republic, Karvina with its neighboring towns form the industrial Ostrava-Karviná Coal Basin. It has a population of around the 65,141 mark with considerable German and Romani communities. This town is not on the tourist radar and is no tech hub per se, but it does have its fair share of tech savvy souls meandering the town and hustling to coworking venues to get their stuff done.
The Czech startup scene is on the rise with companies such as Avast and AVG with roots in the Czech Republic. It seems that every day there are new startups emerging with plenty of job vacancies for skilled IT workers. With a population of around the 11-million mark plus a new hip name "Czechia", the country is seeing startups patenting their know-how and registering brands bringing their ideas into the realms of reality. Many innovators in the Czech Republic are in the fields of financing and IT, but there is a broad spectrum of markets happening such as "Mooveez" which teaches you English by watching movies or "Neuron Soundware" that uses sound to detect a mechanical issue.
Coworking spaces are packed with good vibes and tech hustlers and whisperers busily creating in collaborative mode.
