About Petrer
A Spanish town sitting in the province of Alicante, Petrer forms a conurbation with the city of Elda and has between them a population of about 95,000. A tributary of the Vinalopo River runs through the heart of the urban area of Petrer and its economy is based on footwear, furs, plastics, pottery and construction materials. Coworking has hit the streets of this town to give its industrious tech savvy locals somewhere to hang out with likeminded souls and to get their stuff done.
As with other towns and cities throughout Spain, Petrer has seen a rise in the local tech scene due to the fact that its youth are no longer chasing their dreams overseas, preferring to hang around in their own neighborhoods. The startup ecosystem has happened and many creative minds are getting innovative on their home ground. Today it is quite acceptable from a cultural point of view to say that you are an entrepreneur and not a civil servant. Spanish entrepreneurs have a competitive advantage of being able to grab skilled developers and engineers at a fraction of the Silicon Valley cost, which is why many startups are chasing their dreams in this land of wine and Jamon Iberico (Iberian ham).
Coworking spaces are popping up everywhere throughout Spain including Petrer to cater to the influx of wandering nomads with laptops and home grown entrepreneurs providing an important link between business, creativity and merely getting your stuff done.
