Described as "Britain's sunniest town," Eastbourne has a lot to live up to. And although it's been in a bit of a decline for the past decade, a recent influx of a (much) younger generation is breathing new life into the city.

It's primarily a seaside resort area, with tourism dominating the economy, but Eastbourne has a lot more to offer away from the crowds sunning on the beach (although it is a tempting spot). Nature lovers will be enthralled by South Downs National Park, plus South Downs Way (a 100-mile stretch of hiking trails that start and end here). For food, avoid the overpriced (and overcrowded) eateries by the marina, and instead indulge in some fantastic fish and chips at local hangouts like Qualisea, Trident, or Odyssey Fish Restaurant. And be aware - the city only has three nightclubs (which are mostly filled with tourists), so don't plan on too many wild nights out here.

Aside from tourism, though, Eastbourne's economy is still thriving. It's home to the largest book distributor in the UK, as well as a number of manufacturing and engineering companies. Plus, there is a growing number of successful e-commerce businesses here - and entrepreneurs will certainly appreciate the increasing amount of available (and affordable) commercial property.
