About Pardubice

The capital city of the same named region sitting on the Elbe River, Pardubice is about 96km from Prague. First mentioned in writing in 1295 and founded in 1340, it was a part of the Austrian monarchy until 1918. There are no towering mountains or other wonderful natural landscapes surrounding the town, as it sits in the lowlands with "one" hill nearby, "Kunětická hora". You will however find an old tower and a castle to poke your nose around and the town itself has quite a few historical buildings to check out with plenty of churches to invade when you wish to say a little prayer for some heavenly intervention for the success of your startup. The sporting enthusiasts can get excited, as the city is known for its events such as the Great Pardubice Steeplechase, the Golden Helmet of Pardubice and the Czech Open. A bit of a transport hub, its locals get very busy munching on ginger bread before heading to a coworking venue to get some stuff done.

Pardubice is no tech hub per se, but it's a city of industry predominantly in the fields of chemicals plus electrical and mechanical engineering. It's the associated with the invention of semtex plastic explosive, so tread carefully.

The Czech startup scene is on the rise and every day there are new startups emerging with plenty of job vacancies for skilled IT workers. With a population of around the 11-million mark plus a new hip name "Czechia", the country is seeing startups patenting their know-how and registering brands bringing their ideas into the realms of reality. Coworking spaces are packed with good vibes, have flexible atmospheres and plenty of knowledge sharing happens amongst its local creatives.
