Learn a bit of French or get your hand actions ready as Neuchatel is the French-speaking capital of the Swiss canton of the same name sitting on the northern shore of Lake Neuchatel. It is a gorgeous medieval old town spreading out beneath the Château de Neuchâtel, a 12th Century castle. The city has about 34,000 inhabitants and is often referred to by its German name, Neuenburg. In its early days it was the stomping grounds of the Roman Empire and later the Prussians. Coworking spaces have opened their doors in this culturally rich city with historical buildings to meander around.

If you are into everything that is ancient then you will love strolling around the Laténium, which is the largest archaeological museum in Switzerland exhibiting over 50,000 years of regional history. There is a Gothic church opposite and if you head to the Jura Mountains sitting west of the city, the Creux du Van will captivate you, as it is a pseudo amphitheatre in a canyon with plenty of hiking trails and stunning panoramic views. The old town is where you can hang out slurping espresso and people watching, whilst the arty crowd can head to the Museum of Art and History.

This is a university town so there is plenty of hype and frivolity happening at times. Everyone will be clutching their tech devices as they head to a coworking space to mingle, collaborate and get their stuff done, whether they are the tech savvy students or locals who are over working from cafes.
