About Palencia

The third cheapest city to live in when in Spain, Palencia is a gorgeous town with plenty of cheap accommodation to be had. With a population of 81,522 inhabitants, this small town is easy to get around, so you won't be wasting money on transport. Another big tick is that you will be able to walk or bicycle to your coworking venue where you can hang out with other frugal souls.

Maybe not the most popular town, Palencia is a city south of Tierra de Campos in the north-northwest of Spain. It does have plenty to offer for the history buffs, as there is the 11th Century "San Miguel" San Francisco church with a Romanesque apse and Gothic facade, plus a Palencia Cathedral with a Gothic exterior and a Renaissance altarpiece with paintings by Juan de Flandes to gawk at. An ancient Roman bridge crossing the Carrion River was replaced by a medieval one with 3 arches and the Calle Mayor (High Street) is a 900 meter long pedestrian-only street cloaked in 18th, 19th and early 20th Century architecture. You can even meander around the Villa Romana de La Olmeda, which is a 4th Century AD house of 27 rooms and 3,000 square meters of space known for its mosaics depicting mythological scenes. The site around it includes Roman ruins of burial sites and a set of thermal baths.

Even if you are not into the shenanigans of ancient times, today the city offers all the usual amenities of bars and restaurants to while away the hours after leaving your coworking space at the end of the day.
