Greenville is the 3rd largest urban area in the upstate of South Carolina about halfway between Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte. It is where historical homes sit comfortably beside modern office towers and has been described as where the "Old South meets the New South".
There is the Greenville County Museum of Art with regular changing exhibitions for the arty types to investigate. Also the Bob Jones University Museum and Gallery that has some amazing European Old Masters' works displayed, one of the finest collections of Italian Baroque art in the United States and religious works by Rubens, van Dyck, Le Brun and Ribera to name a few. You can take a leisurely stroll through the Falls Park on the Reedy in South Main Street that wraps itself around the 60 ft Reedy Falls. The Palmetto Expo Center is where large trade shows and exhibitions are held throughout the year, whilst the Bon Secours Wellness Arena can hold up to 16,000 souls for major concerts and sporting events. Center Stage is where to go for some live theater and Peace Center is the place for touring Broadway shows. The CrossWinds Golf Course gives you the chance to play a round of golf for those that can't do without chasing white balls on a fairway.
There are numerous festivals held throughout the year from cycling, running, music, food and art in the park.
