About Redwood City

There are a lot of brains walking around the streets of California as the California Institute of Technology generates more patents than any other university in the United States and the University of California in Los Angeles more startups. In fact, the area has a startup density on a par with many Silicon Valley cities and Redwood City is no exception to this. The city is vibrant with its population of about 86,685 souls meandering its streets, sipping coffee in a cafe or running to a coworking venue to get some work done.

Redwood City is on the San Francisco Peninsula in California's Bay Area, about 43km south of San Francisco and 39km from San Jose. Once a port for timber and other goods, today it's home to numerous global technology companies such as Oracle, Evernote, Box and Electronic Arts to name a few. Redwood City is in the heart of Silicon Valley with the only deepwater port on San Francisco Bay. Incorporated in 1867, Redwood City is a green city with plenty of parks where you can commune with nature plus preserves such as Bair Island Ecological Preserve, the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge and the Edgewood County Park that is known for its beautiful wildflowers.
California is said to offer to the next generation of tech innovators the perfect base to launch startups with its strong university system, access to funding, brainpower and talent, a robust ecosystem and a great lifestyle where the weather is warm. With many graduates wanting to stay on their own home-turf, coworking venues have become the playground and the hangout for these out-of-the-box thinkers where they can get support, mingle with a like-minded community and get their stuff done.
