About Bishkek

Formerly known as Pishpek and Frunze, Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan and the administrative center of the Chuy Region. It is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings. There are Soviet-style apartment blocks surrounding interior courtyards and now coworking spaces to cater to the dreamers and innovators of the city. Sitting at an altitude of about 800 meters on the northern fringe of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, an extension of the Tian Shan Mountains, the city is connected to the Turkestan-Siberia Railway.

For coworking souls who are into the wild outdoors and for the local freelancers, startups and entrepreneurs who live and work amidst this dynamic environment (think glaciers and wildlife trails), Bishkek is a haven of opportunity to live a life that is balanced between work and play.

The country may be one of the poorest in the region, but it is home to a blossoming startup culture with a tech community growing organically within the community, not from government or education institutions. Coworking venues are becoming the focus and gathering points for intrepid local tech minds aiming for a better economy where the low level of Internet penetration is sometimes a hindering factor.
