About Sarpsborg

Sarpsborg sits in Norway, the fastest growing tech scene of the Nordic countries (think Scandinavia, Finland and Iceland) and the opening of coworking venues in the city is giving its inventive locals the place to hang out with likeminded souls. The city has a population of around the 55,127 mark and the largest employer of the town folk is Borregaard Industries. It is also home to Borg Bryggerier that is a part of Hansa Borg Bryggerier, Norway's 2nd largest brewery group. The township has a rich cultural heritage in spite of the fact that it is cloaked in paper mills and factories. This is where you will find the most powerful waterfall in the whole of Europe, Sarp Falls, that runs 3 power stations and is only moments from the heart of the city.

Bronze age inscriptions litter the town; you can play golf in the summer and hit the ski slopes in the winter. The majestic estate of the 17th Century "Hafslund" is open to visitors and its beautiful gardens are perfect for a stroll around. The old town of Sarpsborg's sister city, Fredrikstad, has a fort dating back to the 17th Century and cobblestone streets lined with Baroque and wooden houses. To feed your ghoulish inner nature there is an ancient graveyard from 200-300AD in the Kulasparken Park and for the history buffs to get excited there is a museum to meander around. The Inspiria Science Center is to occupy the tech geeks who are over sitting in their coworking venue.

With a solid startup ecosystem happening in Norway, Sarpsborg plus other cities, are seeing an increase in government programs facilitating entrepreneurship. Coworking venues are reinforcing the need for platforms to increase collaboration amongst its tech savvy innovators.
