About Buea
With a status of being a "university town" it is little wonder that coworking spaces are springing up in Buea to cater to the minds and inclinations of its energetic and creative graduating youth. The regional capital, Buea has a significant number of ethnic groups in its population of around 90,000. Sitting on the eastern slopes of Mount Cameroon, the city is the perfect town for intrepid souls into a bit of mountain climbing in between inspirational ideas.
Here you will find the University of Buea (Cameroon's first English speaking university) plus other higher institutes of learning, The Nigerian Consulate and the main operational hub of the Naigahelp Medical Aid Organization. There are a handful of colonial era buildings in the city to gawk at during a coffee break from your coworking space if you are into architecture and plenty of cafes dishing up spicy curries and peppery soups to scoff when you are feeling hungry.
Buea's climate is on the humid side, unless you escape to the neighborhoods with a high elevation. There are extended periods of rainfall characterized by a somewhat annoying drizzle that can last for weeks during the rainy season when damp fogs roll off the mountain into the town sitting below. This may not be a startup or tech hot spot, but it is the perfect sized town to balance a work/life with a close knit community hanging out in coworking spaces whether they are students, creatives, entrepreneurs or remote workers.
