About Vina del Mar

A coastal resort city northwest of Santiago, Vina del Mar literally means "Vineyard of the Sea". The locals refer to the city as "La Ciudad Jardin" (The Garden City) and it has a population of about 324,836 inhabitants. It forms a part of the Greater Valparaiso area that has Chile's 3rd largest metropolitan enclave. Awash in hotels and casinos, the city has the largest number of businesses in Valparaiso with an industrial district named, El Salto. Not exactly a tech hub, it does however have quite a few locals who have no desire to leave their glamorous home ground. Coworking venues are becoming the de rigueur hangout for those souls doing their own thing where they can mingle with other likeminded people.

Unlike the bustling metropolis of Valparaiso, Vina del Mar is awash in beautiful boulevards dotted with palm trees, palaces, expansive lush green parks and a sprawling beach. It’s a hot spot for weekend getaways and long summer holidays when it goes into party mode for the bronzed bodies swanning around. Vina del Mar has a laid-back beachy lifestyle with quite few architectural and historical treats to gawk at plus museums to meander around, if you are so inclined.

Chile is a country that is making serious investments in technology and the creation of opportunities for tech startups to launch and grow. If you happen to be an investor, a talented tech whisperer or a startup, you can actually get a long-stay visa for Chile within 15 days. The country has a leading global accelerator program and is ranked first in Latin America for innovation. It is home to one of the top 5 fintech ecosystems and is ranked 5th in the world for tertiary enrolment. Coworking in Vina del Mar will give you the chance to hang out with the creative locals and run to the casino for a gambling flurry during your lunch break.
