About Pisa

Home to the iconic "Leaning Tower of Pisa", Pisa is a city in the Tuscany region of Italy. This is a sight that can't be missed, as its white-marble Romanesque bell tower and striped-marble cathedral that was built in 1372 dominates the cityscape. Sitting in the heart of Italy straddling the Arno River as it makes its way into the Ligurian Sea, Pisa is the capital city of the province of the same name. The town has over 91,104 people running around its ancient streets that are littered with historical churches, medieval palaces and beautiful bridges. Pisa was once a maritime power that rivaled Venice and Genoa. Today it's a tourist playground especially for history buffs and a city where you can linger for as long as you like hanging out with the locals in coworking venues.

Pisa's economy since the 1400s has been based in education, as it's home to the University of Pisa that dates back to the 12th Century. It's also where you will find the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa that was founded by Napoleon in 1810, as well as the Sant' Anna School of Advanced Studies that is sanctioned as one of the "Superior Graduate Schools in Italy". There are so many students studying in the city that has given birth to a vibrant and dynamic cafe and bar culture where you will find more locals than tourists playing up.

Italians have creative culture in their blood, from food to fashion, design to wine and there are plenty of innovative tech savvy souls lingering over espressos. The government is instigating new initiatives to make it easier for startups to "start up" in light of the fact that it has always had a reputation for being bureaucracy-heavy. Coworking venues opening in Pisa is a no-brainer, with its creative tech savvy youth and globe trotting entrepreneurs lingering in the city, this is where they are all meeting in collaborative mayhem.
