About Ipswich

A town of Suffolk in the east of England, Ipswich sits on the Orwell River about 106 km northeast of London. Footsteps have been trodden over its land since the Saxon period and its port has been one of England's most important ones for the whole of its history. The town has a population of around the 133,384 mark with its total built up area having about 180,000 inhabitants. Suffolk has a vibrant and dynamic tech scene happening with many coworking spaces opening their doors to cater to the innovative locals, the remote workers who wish to stay on their home turf and the odd meandering nomad with a laptop in their backpack.

The waterfront of Ipswich is awash in galleries, boutiques and cafes plus there is a 19th Century Old Custom House to check out, if you are into maritime history. This is where you can take your break from working in relaxation mode as you slurp espresso watching the comings and goings of the yachts and boats, or if later in the day watch the sun sinking into the water whilst sipping a wine. If you really want to escape you can jump onto a sailing barge and explore the Orwell River. There is plenty to keep the artsy folk happy with the best collection of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable paintings that you will find outside of London at Christchurch Mansion, whilst the New Wolsey Theatre is where you can catch a West End show or a local production.

Each county in Sussex has its own individual tech presence with more people involved in digital jobs than there are on local farms. In Ipswich alone there are around 14,715 digital tech jobs across all sectors. Many coworking conglomerates are opening their doors in Ipswich to cater to this huge demand that include business incubators, hot-desking and office spaces.
