About Alverca do Ribatejo

A city and a suburb near the Tagus River in the Lisbon Metropolitan area; Alverca do Ribatejo has a population of around the 31,070 mark. This is home to all things to do with aviation. A military air base was built here in 1918 and the aerospace company OGMA, the Air Force Aerodrome Engineering Unit, the Portuguese Air Force General Storage plus a branch of the Air Museum are all located in its streets. The land of "pastel de nata" or as some might call these yummy icons of Portugal, a custard tart, is now a place where you can find a coworking venue to get your stuff done.

Wandering nomads with laptops in their backpacks are drawn to Portugal for its laid-back lifestyle, relatively cheap living and of course, pastel de nata. Portugal is rising unshackled from almost half a century of authoritarian rule and is trying to reinvent itself as Europe's leading tech hub. It is promoting the fact that it also has an economy based on knowledge and an entrepreneurial community that is growing by the day. With its change in government, wealth of tech talent and the fact that nearly everyone speaks English, Portugal is seeing the return of many of its youth that had fled to what they perceived to be better startup shores.

With the advent of coworking spaces, it is not only the innovative locals hanging out in the establishments, but the wandering globe-trotters who tend to linger for far longer than what they planned to. And, when work starts to create brain implosions there is always a bar handy to run to.
