About Raleigh

Raleigh is known as the "City of Oaks", due to its oak tree lined streets in the city heart.  This is the town for watching girls on roller skates knock each other about (in a team spirit of course), imaginative and quirky beers such as banana and chocolate infused beer and a high tech library "The James B. Hunt" where there is about 2 million books on an innovative bookBot automated delivery system. In Raleigh the only transport power you need is a bicycle or your jogging legs along the 160 km greenway trail that smothers the city.

If you are a music buff, head to "Kings" that showcases local and national musicians with the odd dance party in the downstairs bar.  Everyone is in to satisfying the hunger pangs and there are plenty of choices from Laotian to Indian to the good old pizza and beer venues.  For the odd cocktail or a bit of live jazz, head to the Glenwood South area to indulge in both.  If you happen to be in Raleigh on the "First Friday" of each month, the locals put on an "Art and Wine" night where you can meander around the streets with a vino in hand whilst admiring art in any one of the many local art galleries.
There is the William B. Umstead State Park to explore for the adventurous soul into biking, boating, fishing or even an overnight "glamping" (aka camping) trip. The Contemporary Art Museum in the warehouse district is a cultural hit, as is the North Caroline Museum of Art.
