About Lake Worth
Sitting in Palm Beach of Florida, Lake Worth has Lake Worth Lagoon on its eastern border and Lake Osborne on its west. A coastal city on the Atlantic Ocean, it is known as "where the tropics begin". Multi-cultural with a hip downtown area, there are over 1,000 historic buildings to explore. Considered to be the artistic soul of the area with a somewhat bohemian ambience, there are plenty of live music clubs to drop into when the mood strikes. Dotted throughout the town you will find quaint coffee houses, art galleries, antique stores, boutique shops and a plethora of restaurants to frequent when your stomach wants to be fed.
Most cultural activities are held around the square on Lake and Lucerne Avenues where annually there is a Lake Worth Street Painting Festival that brings the pavement alive with colorful artworks. You can have a game of golf on a picturesque waterfront golf course, the Lake Worth Municipal Golf Course or at the Palm Beach National Golf and Country Club with its laurel oaks and coconut trees. Take a splash at any one of the 18 beaches or the lakes within the vicinity, or meander along the William O Lockhart Municipal Pier and watch the surfers play in the ocean swells. If you are into a bit of nature and the wild side of life, the Snook Islands Natural Area is 100 acres of wetland habitat, the perfect place to do a bit of bird spotting, kayaking or hiking the boardwalks or the trails. If you have to get your museum hit then go to the Lake Worth Historical Museum and gawk at the evidence of the city's former glory days.
