Birkirkara (also known as B’Kara for short) is the second most populous town on the island of Malta, with just around 23,000 inhabitants. As a highly religious town, B’Kara is known for its four autonomous parishes: Saint Helen, Saint Joseph the Worker, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and Saint Mary. The city’s coat of arms is a plain, red cross that’s surmounted by a crown, which illustrates aspects of Birkirkara’s longstanding history.
There are many places of interest in Birkirkara, including the Old Railway Station that’s located today within a public garden and illustrates the city’s unique history of relying on trains for across the island. As the city becomes more modernized, there are several coworking spaces and flexible offices now available for entrepreneurs, where it’s easy to connect to reliable wi-fi and engage in business pursuits. After a day of working and networking, there is no town quite as delicate as Birkirkara to explore.
