About Franklin

Once home to the Cherokee Indian Nation and surrounded by some of the oldest mountains in the world, Franklin is located in Williamson County, Tennessee. Home to historical trails, gem mines and some great fishing spots, you can spend your time exploring the natural surrounds or ensconced in the historical downtown district with an espresso and your credit card in tatters from frequenting too many boutiques.

The North Caroline Appalachian Mountains kiss the sky whilst you put your walking boots to work where waterfalls will want you to splash in them and panoramic scenes will leave you in awe.  Or, take to either the Cherokee Heritage Trail or the North Carolina Civil War Trail, for a history lesson with a difference.  Meander through some of the historical homes where the ghosts of the Civil War's Battle of Franklin will invade your mind or take a feast to Arrington Vineyards, especially if there is the "Music in the Vines" happening when you are there. For the history buff, there are 3 museums to take in and for a cultural hit it is possible to watch a concert or some theater at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. You can put on a miner's helmet and go searching for the mother of all mother sapphires at the Gem Capital of the World.  It's possible to hire a bicycle and take to the back roads exploring the local area or have a motorbike throbbing between your legs whilst the mountain air invigorates as you explore the gorges, Cullasaja and Nantahala. If that isn't enough for the adrenalin junkies, then go white water rafting on the Nantahala River.

Franklin is an adventure lover's heaven with the added bonus of decent cafes and great shops for local crafts and art, for those that just want to vegetate.
