About Pokhara

Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a two-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the lakeside district has numerous yoga centers and restaurants, providing excellent after-work activities for freelancers or startups in the area. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.

As the second largest city in Nepal after Kathmandu, Pokhara is a great place for adventure seekers looking to make any number of treks across the country. In fact, Pokhara is the starting point for most of the notorious treks in the Annapurna area. Since the 1990s, Pokhara has experienced rapid urbanization. As a result, service-sector industries have increasingly contributed to the local economy, overtaking traditional agriculture. The major contributors to the economy of Pokhara are the manufacturing and service sectors including tourism, agriculture, and the foreign and domestic remittances. For entrepreneurs or digital nomads, Pokhara presents many opportunities in an unforgettable setting.
