About Burlington

Located between Niagara Falls and Toronto, Burlington is in the Halton Region of Lake Ontario.  The picturesque waterfront position makes Burlington the perfect place for the outdoor enthusiast to spend some time, whilst those that like to party will find plenty to do at one of the annual festivals such as Canada's Largest Ribfest or Sound of Music Festival.

The Niagara Escarpment is an adventure land just waiting to be hiked where you will find the Iroquoian section of the Bruce Trail.  The trail meanders along the edge of the escarpment and is one of the 13 UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves in Canada.  A massive 900 km waits for you to pound along in your hiking boots. Pristine wilderness with a different mask for each season, where there are waterfalls, streams and rivers, and the most famous of all, the Niagara Falls to explore. Centuries old coniferous trees cling beside the limestone lip of the edge where the odd scurrying creature will flee upon hearing your footsteps.  The full trail actually passes through parks, major towns and cities and even wineries, from the Niagara Peninsula ending at Tobermory, which is the jumping off point for visiting the Fathom Five National Marine Park.  If this doesn't appeal, head to Crawford Lake in the Halton Conservation area where the pounding of boots may be more of a gentle stroll.

Spencer Smith Park squatting on the Burlington Waterfront gives panoramic views over Lake Ontario where you can simply sit and relax or follow a walking, biking and rollerblading trail along the water's edge. You can take in the shops and rub out a few numbers on your credit card in downtown Burlington, or just sit in a cafe and people watch. The Royal Botanical Gardens have a Garden Cafe sitting amidst more than 1,100 hectares of wilderness, wetland and the world's largest lilac collection.  Open since 1929 in the summer months you can even sit at one of the Tea Houses in either the Rock Garden or the Rose Garden for a change of pace.
