About Fort Collins

Think "Napoleon Dynamite", well at least the actor Jon Heder, as he was born in Fort Collins that sits in Colorado. A college city where the Colorado State University - founded in 1870 - is located.  Listed as one of the top ten cities to retire to in the United States, the oldies have to remember that it is illegal to ride a horse whilst under the influence of their gin and tonics.  This is the land of breweries, as there are 25 located in the region, so finding a local brew to swill down is no hassle at all.  The New Belgium Brewery hosts the "Tour de Fat" annually, where you can dress up in whatever takes your fancy and ride a bike throughout the town.

Fort Collins is swamped with college-age testosterone filled bodies that flock to any of the festivals held in town.  If you happen to be there late summer, there are the Bohemian Nights "NatWestFest", where you can get into some great food and music.  The Fort Collins Lincoln Center regularly has touring companies performing Broadway plays, or do a pub crawl of the micro-breweries establishments, if a taste of culture is not on your agenda. Late June, the city is engulfed in beer swilling, as The Colorado Brewer's Festival is in full swing on an annual basis.  For the sports enthusiasts there is the Colorado Marathon to run off the beer intake that you may have partaken off prior to the event. Apart from the beer obsession, there are museums, theaters and an amazing Center for Fine Art Photography that shouldn't be missed because you are still checking out all the pubs.

For a meal with a quirky difference, take up the challenge of the "Fat Shack" to down 3 8-inch sandwiches, that is 2kg in total weight, with an overflowing plate of fries. You will get your meal on the house and your picture on the wall. What more could you want?  (maybe a bucket)
