Often associated as a blue-collar town filled with bowling alleys and polka halls, Milwaukee is slowly emerging as a relatively trendy destination. Despite its harsh winters, the city in the summertime is filled with cultural activities such as sailing on Lake Michigan, taking in a weekly performance of Jazz in the Park downtown, and partying at the annual lakefront Summerfest (otherwise known as the Wisconsin State Fair). And make sure to try out some of the city's many restaurants, known for its diverse variety of ethnic cuisines.
The "Genuine American City" is surely known for its breweries and historic manufacturing industries, but today it's also the HQ to six international Fortune 500 companies. Five Milwaukee-area companies were also recently recognized by Fortune as "The World's Most-Admired Companies." And, it's home to a number of large financial services firms and publishing/printing businesses.
