About Kobe

Having panoramic stunning vistas, Kobe is ringed by mountains with the ocean on its doorstep. Home to 1.5 million people where dress fashion reigns, it is the gateway port to Japan. Sitting in Osaka Bay, Kobe is internationally known for its signature marbled beef, its beautiful setting and dynamic nightlife on offer. It is where you can gaze at Japan's first mosque, first Sikh temple and meander around Chinatown in an international melting pot of cultural diversity.

You can jump on the antique cable cars that rumble along connecting Kobe to Mt Rokko, or visit the outdoor hot springs and public baths at Arima Onsen. It is a must to savor some sake during the brewing season between the months of October to April. Make sure you take a tour through the historical wooden brewery building of Hakutsuru, and indulge in free sake tasting at the end of the adventure, before heading off to one of the many cafes or restaurants for a tantalizing meal.

Sloping down a hillside to the sea, the cosmopolitan city is small enough to explore by way of train or on foot. Kobe's Fashion Week is a highlight of the annual calendar, but if you miss out on this event, make sure you visit the Kobe Fashion Museum where you can pore over more than 28,000 fashion related books encased in a circular hall that resembles a UFO.
