Coworking Space: BEAHIVE Newburgh
Coworking Space at S William Street

Why is BEAHIVE spelled funny? It’s a cute reference to Beacon, NY (Bea-hive, Bea-con…). The original BEAHIVE opened in 2009 in the heart of Beacon’s Main Street in the artisan-renovated 1907 Telephone Building.
Inspired by the coworking and localism movements, BEAHIVE is a pioneering space for work and community and possibilities — the first and only of our kind in the Hudson Valley, one of only a handful in all of NY, and one of probably only a few hundred in the world when we opened.
BEAHIVE is a place where entrepreneurs, creatives and techies mix with nonprofit leaders, activists and community organizers. At the most basic level, we provide a member-powered, creative workspace for entrepreneurs, freelancers, remote workers, consultants, and microbusinesses.
But we’re more than that. We’re driven by the dream of vibrant, diverse and inclusive Hudson Valley communities — supported by an economy that is sustainable, locally rooted and human scale.
Since 2009 we’ve engaged thousands of denizens and dozens of community groups and nonprofits through membership, events and programs.
Our Newburgh hive opened in early 2021 in Newburgh’s East End Historic District, just around the corner from Washington’s Headquarters and across the street from Atlas Studios.
Our developer partner is BOM Newburgh, a complementary team that includes Baxter, a premier Hudson Valley real estate developer and general contractor; Mapos, an award-winning NYC architecture and design firm; and Sisha Ortuzar, an award-winning NYC restauranteur and hospitality advisor who lives in Newburgh.
BEAHIVE is sandwiched between artist studios and a retail space on the lower level and bi-level loft apartments above, an ideal mission-aligned project that will bring traffic and energy and have a positive impact in the city.
SPACES FOR WORK + COMMUNITY + POSSIBILITIES
We were pioneers in the coworking movement, and we’ve leveraged our decade-plus of experience (and that of our partners) to design a warm, comfortable, inviting, productive space to work, meet, collaborate and socialize.
Our main communal room is an open, airy space with original wood floors and huge windows facing the street. When the sun is shining it floods the space with natural light (which, studies show — surprise! — improves productivity, sleep and vitality).
Bordering the communal space, we have more than a dozen private studio offices. There’s also a kitchen area and a couple meeting rooms.
Throughout we have a mix of semi-private, fully private, and wide-open coworking spaces, resident desks and studios, lounge areas, privacy cells, event/meeting space, communal desks and tables, sofas and armchairs. High-speed Fios fiber internet is wired directly into studio offices (with the ability to create a solo private network) and also feeds a high-performance Ubiquiti UniFi Wi-Fi network throughout the space.
The building has a courtyard (with gazebo!), bike rack, elevator, smart lock access, security cameras (exterior and interior), and is ADA accessible.
We draw members not only from Newburgh but surrounding communities — Cornwall, Montgomery, New Windsor, Walden, Wallkill and beyond.
