Overview of Groundwork
Our space encompasses 5000 square feet of ground floor space in a historic mill building near downtown New Bedford. Members enjoy comfortable work stations, breakout spaces and soft seating, super speedy internet, stocked kitchen with local coffee and snacks plus office supplies and equipment.
We run a full program of events, including monthly networking at the "Business Buzz," lunch and learn workshops, class series, member potlucks, and an annual holiday party. We operate an art gallery out of our cafe area showcasing local artists with monthly opening receptions.

My Home Away from Home
22.08.2018I was lucky to discover Groundwork shortly after I moved to New Bedford, and with it I found a community. Not only were the members welcoming, but they are a microcosm of New Bedford as a whole. I seldom attend an event in the city without seeing someone I know from Groundwork. They are very plugged in! In fact, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Groundwork members help keep New Bedford moving forward. It is also a great space to work in: high ceilings, large windows, comfy chairs, and original artwork. The members are friendly, but they respect your boundaries when you're working. The owners/managers also care about the members. There are regular town hall meetings where members' opinions are solicited. We're even asked our preferences for food and beverages! There are also frequent events for members and non-members, including workshops, networking events, potlucks, and gallery openings.
Thanks Mindy! You are a valued member of the GW family :)

coworking without community is just working. Coworking without Community is Just Working*
17.07.2018Great design, lots of air and light, good coffee and wifi, and all that. Just happens to be located in the economic development and entrepreneur support hub of New Bedford. Upstairs, there’s an alphabet soup of boards and commissions and offices ready and waiting to help you move forward. OK, so far just like Starbucks. Except for the people - the community you’re part of. All busy bees doin’ what they’re doin’. But – have a question on IoT, crypto, commercial/residential development, full stack (pancakes or web dev), running a retail shop or a tree-hugger program – just sit down in the kitchen and chat for a few. Yes, the people- people who care about the space and their neighbors. Oh, and did I mention the art gallery…? *Thanks to Cat Johnson for the title
Love it- all very true. Thanks Steve!

The right connection
17.07.2018When I first started going to Groundwork!, I knew few people in New Bedford. Within a very short amount of time, I felt I was plugged into a terrific community. From this base, I have established a solid writing career in the area and am never sort of material. I simply look around me and find interesting people doing interesting things every day. It's my pleasure to report on the various ways our members are moving the city and region forward. Some are doing this through dynamic businesses. Others through social leadership. And, through the arts. Because of this environment, I not only practice journalism, but what we all preach - community building - and have enjoyed pursuing new projects in the city of my own, all made possible by the network of colleagues and friends found at Groundwork!
Thanks for the kind words Steven!

Quiet place to work, good coffee - professionals to connect with
16.07.2018I go to Groundwork about once a week for an extra office space. There are sitdown and stand up desks, and lots of good sunlight. AC works now. Parking is ok, sometimes you gotta look twice - but once you get the hang of it, never more than a block or two. I ride a bike often and there are a couple of bike rack spots out front. Have been able to partners with others here to work on my company's projects. People working here are well connected within the local community. WiFi works well. Coffee for free. Plus snacks.
Thanks John! Happy to have you in our crew.
