Coworking Space: Maru180 in Seoul

Maru180 provides comprehensive solutions including but not limited to education, investment, and entrepreneurship-related networking. It consists of the basement all the way up to the 5th floor, and is located in Yeoksam, the center of many ventures.

The basement is used as an event hall that hosts a variety of educational, networking events related to the start-up industry. MicImpact Studio on the ground floor is a co-working café for entrepreneurs where they can network with other developers, designers, investors, and creators. 2nd to 5th floor are for accelerators, venture capitals, and startups supported by the Asan Nanum Foundation.

‘Maru’ of MARU180 means the highest point of the stage, and that things are in progress. At the same time, it means a wide space between two rooms in Korean traditional houses. With these two meaninngs in mind, MARU aims to “network, exchange, work hard together, and reach the summit.”

‘180’ of MARU180 refers to its address ‘Yeoksamro 180’. While it stamps the existence of the space, it also contains the ambition to support and release startups that will reverse the world 180 degrees.

“MARU180의 ‘마루’는 산등성이의 가장 높은 곳이자 일이 한창 되어가는 단계나 대목을 뜻합니다. 동시에 전통적인 가옥구조에서 방과 방 사이에 있는 넓은 얼판 공간을 의미합니다. MARU는 “함께 모여 열심히 일하고, 교류하며 아산(峨山 : 높은 산)의 정상에 도달하는 공간”이 되고자 합니다. MARU180의 ‘180’은 MARU180의 주소지인 역삼로 180을 지칭합니다. ‘여기 있다’라는 존재의 의미를 각인시킴과 동시에 세상을 180도 뒤집을 스타트업을 배출하고자 하는 바람이 담겨있습니다. MARU180은 입주 스타트업들이 서로 배우고 교류하며 함께 성장할 수 있는 환경을 갖추고자 합니다.”
