The van Bylandtachterstraat is parallel to the Hasseltstraat, the main thoroughfare in the former Herdgand 'de Hasselt in Tilburg

The Hasselt, or the Hassel, is an old Middle Low German word for hazel. In 1522 the following entry appears in the municipal archives: "De Haselaerwech located in die Hasselt". Here it is clear that there is a hazel tree. The hazel often grew under oaks, usually in a hedge shape, it is a tree that can withstand the shade. The tree was a symbol of marriage, abundance of wealth and family happiness. The hazelnut was seen as a symbol of peace and health, as it were.

The building on Bylandtachterstraat 24 was built in 1940 and was often used as storage space in the past.

It was only later that offices were added (all on the first floor), while three beautiful storage spaces were created on the ground floor, without changing the 'old' appearance.
