Coworking Space: StartDock Westplein in Rotterdam

Located on the Veerhaven in the Scheepvaartkwartier, StartDock Rotterdam is literally and figuratively a 'safe haven to dock'.

The Scheepvaartkwartier is one of the few areas in Rotterdam that was spared during the bombing on 14 May 1940. Partly because of this, the district has managed to maintain its impressive old Dutch appearance and the imposing villas on the Parklaan are still proudly standing.

Westplein 12, a classic monumental building built in 1879 as a residence, at the time housed a German port commander and was later used as headquarters by the Marine Corps.

Originally, the building was christened 'Rust Plaets', a name that still lives up to the location: StartDock must be a place where you feel like a second home. Unique to StartDock is a close-knit community of like-minded entrepreneurs who encourage each other, learn from each other, and help each other grow.

Gelegen aan de Veerhaven in het Scheepvaartkwartier is StartDock Rotterdam letterlijk en figuurlijk een ‘safe haven to dock’.

Het Scheepvaartkwartier is een van de weinige gebieden in Rotterdam dat bespaard is gebleven bij het bombardement op 14 mei 1940. Mede daardoor heeft de wijk haar indrukwekkend oud-Nederlandse uitstraling weten te behouden en staan de imposante villa’s aan de Parklaan nog fier overeind.

Westplein 12, een klassiek monumentaal pand gebouwd in 1879 als woning, bood destijds onderdak aan een Duitse havencommandant en werd later onder meer gebruikt als hoofdkwartier door het Korps Mariniers.

Origineel werd het pand ‘Rust Plaets’ gedoopt, een naam die de locatie nog immer eer aan doet: StartDock moet een plaats zijn waar je je op je gemak voelt en die aanvoelt als een tweede thuis. Uniek aan StartDock is namelijk een hechte community van gelijkgestemde ondernemers die elkaar aanmoedigen, van elkaar leren, en elkaar helpen te groeien. Niet: ‘niet lullen maar poetsen’ maar ‘lullen én poetsen’ is het credo.
