Working in ‘de Koepel’

The Koepelgevangenis in Haarlem, normally known as De Koepel, is a former prison. The building is one of three domed prisons in the Netherlands. ‘De Koepel’ Prison was built from 1899 to 1901 by justice architect W.C. Mason. Like the other dome prisons, this dome prison is also a national monument. ‘De Koepel’ contains four stacked cell rings with a total of 400 cells. Prison De Koepel in Haarlem was closed in 2016. The site was then used as a reception location for Syrian refugees. to take.

In 2019, the municipality of Haarlem, the Panopticon foundation, the SRH Grupe and the Global School for Entrepreneurship signed a collaboration agreement. With this, these authorities indicated that they would start with the realization of educational and residential facilities in the former dome prison. Architect André van Stigt and his office are responsible for the design of the renovation of the complex.

In de historische koepelgevangenis van Haarlem komt academisch onderwijs, cultuur en het bedrijfsleven samen. Op deze plek heeft Cupola XS een community van ondernemers, leidinggevenden en medewerkers van MKB bedrijven gecreëerd die samenwerken aan de duurzame groei van het bedrijf en daarmee aan een vitale economie.

Cupola XS is een inspirerende en circulaire co-workspace met privé kantoren waar alles voor ambitieuze bedrijven samenkomt. Naast werkruimte krijgen bedrijven toegang tot talent van de universiteit coaching gericht op digitalisering en financiering en tot andere vaardigheden uit de community en het netwerk van Cupola XS.

De Koepelgevangenis van Haarlem, in de volksmond De Koepel genoemd, is een voormalige strafgevangenis. Het gebouw is een van de drie koepelgevangenissen die Nederland kent. De Koepelgevangenis werd van 1899 tot 1901 gebouw door justitie architect W.C. Metzelaar. Net als de andere koepelgevangenissen is ook deze koepelgevangenis een rijksmonument. De Koepel bevat vier gestapelde cellen ringen met in totaal 400 cellen.Gevangenis de Koepel in Haarlem is in 2016 gesloten.Daarna is het terrein gebruikt als opvanglocatie voor Syrische vluchtelingen.Anno 2017 ontstonden de plannen om in het gebouw onder andere een university college onder te brengen.

In 2019 hebben de gemeente Haarlem, de stichting Panopticon, de SRH Grupe en de Global School for Entrepreneurship hun handtekening onder een samenwerkingsovereenkomst gezet. Hiermee gaven deze instanties te kennen te gaan beginnen met het realiseren van onderwijs- en woonvoorzieningen in de voormalige koepelgevangenis. Architect André van Stigt en zijn bureau zijn verantwoordelijk voor het ontwerp van de renovatie van het complex.

De nieuwe functie van de Koepel opent niet alleen de gevangenis, maar versterkt ook de verbinding tussen onderwijs, cultuur en bedrijfsleven.

Cupola XS verbindt met haar activiteiten in de Koepel onder andere digitalisering en internationalisering aan groei voor het MKB.
