If you like to start your workday with a strong caffeine hit and stimulating conversation then Enklave is the place to be. Located near the U8 Station Boddinstraße, there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to run to if the desire hits you, rather than work mode. The former airport Tempelhof - now called Tempelhofer Freiheit- is only a 2-minute walk away. Members have 24/7 access, so the workaholics will be grinning all day and all night as they can work when they choose to.

The gossip from members of Enklave:

"I travel a lot so the flexible price plan is a huge advantage for me as I know I'm not paying for something I'm not using. It's perfect for freelancers like me who want to get out of the house, get work done and meet other interesting, creative minds. I worked from home for three years before joining Enklave and I wish there'd been someplace like this before - it's just what I need!"

"I tried several coworking spaces in Berlin before coming to Enklave where my search finally ended. You feel as part of the community right from the start and having lunch together, free beer tasting (getting wasted) on Friday and other regular events help to keep it that way. Great place!"

You can be as social as you want to be or work in your own little bubble if you like flying solo. The premises will have the design gurus in their happy space, as Enklave is a refurbished factory with 7 rooms of different sizes and unique designs to get you in that innovative mood. You will only pay for the actual hours of space that you use and you can cancel any time, as there are no long contracts. The friendly atmosphere encourages you to meet new people and broaden your horizons whether it is on a personal or professional level. Attracting a crowd of remote workers whether of the digital wandering ilk or local professionals, Enklave has the perfect spot for you.

All the rooms are created for different purposes from the "green" room where you can focus in silence (yes that means no talking), the phone and meeting room for when you do have to open your mouth and talk and the "Scandinavian" room awash in wood where your creative thoughts will be rebooted. There is a collaboration room for exchanging ideas and getting instant feedback, as well as the minimalist room with extra large desks and lots of office gadgets to play on.

You can become a member on a full time basis, a flexible pay-as-you-go scenario or claim your own fixed desk for longer. The bonus is that you can enjoy a free day trial to check it out. Take note that Fridays are reserved as beer tasting days!

"Awful"

    April 2019

Avoid Enklave. A quick scan through their reviews shows my experience is pretty common. I joined for 4 weeks, got confirmation of the cancellation, and yet I continue to be repeatedly overcharged. All my contact has been ignored, so I have to hand it over to a lawyer now. I actually enjoyed the co-working experience itself, so it’s a shame their approach to their customers' bank details is so untrustworthy (slash, illegal)

    "Really friendly coworking space"

      November 2018

Enklave has an amazing community, and it's by far the friendliest space I've been a member of. Lunch every day and drinks on Friday evenings mean you really get to know your co-workers. It has three different zones: the front room with a big communal table, the middle room which feels like a classic office with big desks and a bit of chatter, and a back room which is 'silent' (there's a couch in here if you want to take a nap). I particularly liked the disco toilet, but more practically minded people will probably be drawn in by things like the numerous computer monitors you can borrow and the free printing. Oh also sometimes there's a dog. AMAZING. I was a member for four months and I miss it so much!

"Enklave is cozy, funky, and affordable."

        September 2018

I was only in Berlin for a week, and needed a place to work. Enklave made a great short-term home. It's a small, well used space, with a focus on community, and serving individual remote workers and freelancers. They go out of their way to try and get folks interacting with each other once a day -- there's always some kind of community food. Everybody gets 24/7 access which was great -- I came in on Sunday, and stayed late one night -- this also means taking some personal responsibility for the space, which I think also helps foster community. All the desks are first-come first-served, and there are a bunch of monitors available in the main room. The founder is queer, and has an explicit intention of making the space less dude dominated than your average tech-focused space, and inviting to women and queer folks. I really appreciated how affordable the membership was too -- it felt like ~half the cost of most spaces I've been in, and I didn't hesitate to get a 1 week pass. Probably this is partly because things like coffee are a la carte -- but I like that arrangement, since you're not paying for amenities you don't really need. You can BYO if you like, or buy in-house electronically very conveniently for less than you'd pay in a cafe. And the Neukölln neighborhood is beautiful, and has no shortage of cheap food and drink within a couple of minutes walk anyway. The membership was eclectic -- programmers, designers, writers, etc. A mix of German and foreigners. People did fun things together besides work -- movie night in the co-working space (another bonus of everyone having 24/7 access). But during the day it was very focused. Easy to get work done, even in the most social of the three spaces. The only thing that wasn't perfect in my opinion was the WiFi. It was a bit on the flaky side, with what seemed like several router re-boots a day to maintain a high speed connection. Nevertheless, I would certainly go back to Enklave if I found myself in Berlin again.
