About Klamath Falls

Klamath Falls is definitely a town for the outdoor enthusiast.  Native Americans have inhabited it for about 4,000 years. Located in Oregon, it sits on the southeast shore of the Upper Klamath Lake and is about 40 km from the California-Oregon border.  Part of the Oregon Trail, the Klamath Basin has the Applegate Trail to trek and of course, logging was its first major industry.  In a true "wild west" scenario, Klamath Military Post was the last cavalry post that was closed in 1890.  Artesian wells supply the water and Crater Lake - the deepest lake in the United States - last froze over in 1949.

This is where being a "twitter" is de rigueur as the Klamath Basin is proud to claim the longest running bald eagle festival in the United States.  Klamath Lake is the largest fresh water lake, west of the Rockies and if that doesn't make you happy, then have a game of golf on the only Arnold Palmer golf course outside of Oregon. If chasing little white balls on manicured lawn does not float your boat, then go white water rafting on the Klamath River, jump into a geothermal hot water spring or visit the Bear Valley Refuge that is a protected wildlife area.

There are annual festivals in abundance such as the Winter Wings, the Taste of Klamath, a county fair or a car show, but if none of this interests you and you want to stay indoors, go to the Favell Museum where you can leisurely take in native American artifacts or get a cultural hit in the art gallery section.
