About Chelsea

If you want to live in a loft, head to Chelsea where you will find masses of them.  It is the smallest city in Massachusetts, but the second most densely populated.  Located on the west side of Manhattan it is a dynamic and bustling place where the historic blends with the modern in an out-there gay scene overflowing with fashion, art galleries and a vibrant night-life.  Flowing down to the Hudson River, Chelsea's boundaries are approximately from 14th Street to 29th Street, Broadway.  The gateway to the Waterloo Recreation Area where you can put your bird watching skills to test, it is the birth place of the actor Jeff Daniels of Arachnophobia, Terms of Endearment and numerous other movies.

From the historic Hotel Chelsea with its art scene, grabbing a cupcake at the Chelsea Market where you can also gorge on pumpkin waffles or try an Artichoke Pizza, to an arty hit at the Jack Sainman Gallery, there is plenty to keep you enthralled. Especially a "Big Onion Walking Tour" that will take you to the sites linked with Janis Joplin and Dylan Thomas. This is the town for mega cocktail menus thrown into a lot of funk where you can traipse around High Line Park and then head on to a bit of exercise as you energetically throw paint bombs at the Boston Paintball.

You can try your hand at some rock climbing or simply watch butterflies "flutter by" at the Butterfly Place.

Chelsea can be swanky, energetic and as laid back as you like if you meander in one of the stunning parks.
