About Loughborough

A town sitting in the Charnwood borough of Leicestershire in England, Loughborough is home to the Loughborough University, so there are plenty of tech savvy students running amok in its streets. Coworking venues have opened up in this city that has a population of around the 57,600 mark and is the 2nd largest settlement in Leicestershire. It's located close to the Nottinghamshire border and only a short distance from the East Midlands Airport, if you wish to escape quickly.

First mentioned in the Domesday Book (a record of all land ownership made in 1086 under orders of William I), Loughborough began during medieval times. It was in 1841 that Loughborough was the subject of the first "tourist package tour" organized by Thomas Cook. Today the town has a pedestrianized Market Place and Market Street where you can gawk at art deco buildings or join in the flurry of shoppers on farmers' market days.

The startup scene in the United Kingdom is said to be one of the fastest growing in the whole of Europe according to figures over the last 5 years when there has been 392,627 new tech startups launched in the country. The most growth showed up in the niche sectors of Internet, fintech and software. The UK has an attractive environment for tech businesses in that it offers great foundations and ecosystems for innovative minds to get their ideas off the ground. Coworking is but one more step in supporting intrepid brains where it's possible to connect and collaborate with likeminded souls.
