About Devon
Think sandy beaches, medieval towns, national parks and fossil cliffs and you have Devon in mind. Predominantly a tourist town with a mild climate, it is known as the "English Riviera". It is a landscape of pretty colorful harbor villages and secluded coves that take in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, with towering cliffs and the South West Coast Path to follow this astounding shoreline of the southern Jurassic Coast that just so happens to be England's only natural World Heritage site.
You can have a feed of fish and chips sitting on the beach, partake of afternoon tea in traditional style with the cream first on that scone, gulp down some local ale or cider, or take in Castle Drogo that was the last castle built in Britain entirely from granite. For a bit of a giggle let the free roaming penguins at Torquay nibble your toes whilst you fend off the other a few puffin birds or sea ducks. Visit the underwater gallery where you can play with some seals or grab a yacht and join the plethora of boats on the water. If you are lucky you may get to see a beaver or two in East Devon as they frolic in River Otter.
For the lovers of novels, visit Agatha Christie's holiday home on the River Dart and you too may be inspired to write a novel or two.
