About Arlington

In the state of Texas sits Arlington, in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area about 32 km from Dallas. This city is the perfect example of everything in Texas being bigger and larger than in real life. Think humongous where its sporting venues and theme parks are concerned, with music played so loudly that your eardrums hurt. Arlington is no quaint and quiet town, but it is imbued with a Texan sized attitude and bravado that can almost equal that of Dallas and Fort Worth. You can see the Cowboys Stadium from 5 miles away and it is often referred to as the "Death Star" because of its size and is likened to the planet-destroyed space station in the movie "Star Wars". It completely fills up 73 acres of land, so you can't miss it even if you wanted to. The Cowboys Stadium is also blessed with the world's largest HD video screen, which is perfect for those punters that unable to get seats inside the stadium actually pay to stand outside and watch a game on the big screen.

Named after Confederate General Robert E Lee's Arlington House in Virginia, Arlington has 370,450 souls living in the city that is the only one in the world without fixed-route public transport. It is home to the University of Texas at Arlington, a General Motors assembly plant, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV, Texas Health Resources and American Mensa.

The Hurricane Harbor waterpark, Six Flags over Texas, will have you squealing in either terror or fun with its Batman and Superman rides and a tour of the home of the Dallas Cowboys, the AT & T Stadium will have you gawking at the largest domed structure in the world that can accommodate over 100,000 fans. There is the Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame to poke your nose into that is more a tribute to sport in general and you can go roller-skating on a hardwood floor at The Skatium. If you are into a bit of fishing, then head to Lake Arlington, which is a fisherman's paradise because of its large bass that will play with your line.

When you are worn out from doing the above, head to the Division Brewery that was the first locally owned brewery in Arlington and swill a few Indian pale ales, blondes and pilsners or take a chance on a fruity beer or a dark stout and chat to the locals.
